Do I need a flash coat to my RV epdm roof before applying Tough Roof RV?

Yes you will want to make sure that tough roof is adhering to your epdm surface the best way to test this is to apply a thin layer in a 1 ft by 1 ft area wait 3 hours for it to dry. then apply a thicker coat the the 1 ft area if it doesnt peel up your good to go.

My EPDM roof is deterioration what should I do apply the coat over it or not?

when we get a deteriorating sub layer of rubber its typically do to weather and conditions that the roof has endured over the past years. Tough Roof RV actually creates a membrane over this rubber giving it strength and providing a moisture barrier to insure your deteriorating roof last longer. Our suggestion is to determine if you would be best to remove the epdm if it has tears or holes. apply tough tape over holes or crack to the epdm followed by tough repair over the tape this will provide a strong bond and prevent more damage for occurring.

What is the shelf life of tough roof?

Tough Roof has one of the longest shelf life of all liquid rubber over 15 years if kept in a cool place with a tight seal to the can.

It important to apply tough roof to a clean dry surface this will minimize your risk of this happening. However if it does occur it typically takes about 2 days for the bubbles to disappear.

You can drive after about 4 - 8 hours we recommend you test a few areas to make sure that the rubber has bonded and is becoming harden.

Tough Roof can go over caulking areas as long as they are in good shape and not cracking or brittle. We recommend using tough tape to go over caulking areas then bond over it with tough repair. This will give your roof a full seamless mebrane.
